Compelling Reasons...

What are the compelling reasons to have an honors program?

It occurred to Charlotte and I that some great programs that we offer like Animation on Location up here might be funded for honor's students so that the best students are not frozen out of these special programs because of financial constraints.

Structuring more experiences like Animation on Location (AOL?) and connecting them to high achievement and desire to learn could help improve our whole education as well as challenge the students who want more challenge.

The science department has long desired the development of a medical illustration minor or biological sciences minor for the same purpose; to prepare students for and ease the transition of graduate entrance into an accredited medical illustration MFA program. Honors students, especially since the rigors of this graduate program are fairly intense scientifically, would be best suited for the program. And may actually draw students to our undergraduate program if a matriculation agreement would exist for the graduate program. This honors program might be the exact fit for such endeavors.
